Ryan Blaney, Army
Program Team Leader/Dog Trainer
United States Army Airborne Infantryman. I joined the 4th Brigade combat team (airborne), 25th Infantry Division and was assigned to1st Squadron- Airborne, 40th Cavalry Regiment. In early 2009 the unit was cut orders to assist with Operation Enduring Freedom and deployed to the province of Paktia in Afghanistan. After deployment, the unit returned to Fort Richardson Alaska. I applied to West Virginia University and was Honorably Discharged to attend school. Along the way to completing my education, my struggles with Post Traumatic Stress had a significant impact on my day to day life and made completing my education very difficult. In 2014 I discovered my passion for canines and the positive effect they could have on returning service members. I reapplied to school to become a Registered Vet Technician. In 2016 I was in a very serious car accident and realized that while I still wanted to work with canines I wanted to do so on the behavioral side as opposed to the clinical setting. In 2017 I finished an Obedience certification through Animal Behavior College. The ultimate goal was to pass on my love for canines to other struggling veterans and this is why I linked up with Cammies and Canines. I know have my dream job which is rescuing and working with canines as well as helping the veteran community.
